The eight characters of Mythos Anthology Season 2.

Before I set the stage for your character, let me set the stage for our production.
Mythos is, by every definition, a micro funded independent production. Professional is not about budget, it is about intention and how we show up to the work. And we are very professional.
At the same time, we are a small group of dedicated artists coming together to build something we believe in. Real actors, breathing new life into characters drawn from history, literature, and mythology.
We are not well funded. Think of Mythos more as community theater, captured on film.
Most days it is three to four people making the entire thing happen. Craft services are offten cold pizza and some bottles of watter. There are no trailers, no departments, and no one standing around waiting to be told what to do.
If you are here, you are part of the build. That might mean helping with a set, adjusting a prop, or stepping in where needed. If you bring a skill with you, chances are it will find a place on set. Not because we expect more from you, but because this is the kind of project where everyone contributes to making it work.
We are looking for team players as much as talent. People who still love the craft, who want to create something meaningful, and who understand that communication and clear expectations are what keep a small production like this moving forward.
This is not a big budget production. It is something more personal than that. If you choose to submit, do so with a clear understanding of what this is… and if it resonates with you, we would love to see what you bring to it.
Who is Victor, and what is CRG?
Captain Victor T. Mayfair is, in real life, Victor Ciccarelli. That’s me, the one writing this page and the one behind Mythos.
I’m an artist in my 60s with over 45 years of professional creative and technical experience. If you’re curious, you can go down the rabbit hole at www.Ciccarellis.com and see the work for yourself, costumes, makeup, props, sets, web, tech, video, and photography.
I also live and work at a place called Cedar Rose Grove. Over the past year, it has become the physical home of Mythos. Lagoons, castle elements, fairy gardens, Roman spaces, all built out as environments we can actually step into and shoot in. You can get a sense of it here: www.Ciccarellis.com/crg and between now and production we are building more.
So when I say we can do some pretty amazing things, that’s what I mean. Not theory, not plans, but real spaces, real builds, and real work already in place.
And even with all of that, I am just one voice in a much larger chorus.
What we are casting for
This is not a standard acting role. We are not looking for someone who can deliver a line cleanly. We are casting for informed improv, performers who can inhabit a character so completely that the character stays alive even when the script doesn’t.
Our goal is for characters that can extend beyond the screen. While we are not there yet, we are working at having these characters appear at conventions, schools, live events, and immersive performances. The people we cast need to have the desire, and ability to walk into a room as Bacchus, or Lilith, or the Ogre, and hold that character under pressure, answering questions they have never been asked, responding to people who will test the edges, staying inside the voice and the logic of the character when there is no script to fall back on. And all while being true to the history and wonder of the original.
On set, the format is a live interview. We will have a script. We will also go off it. When that happens, I need a performer who can feel the rhythm of the character and keep it moving, not freeze, not reach for lines, not break. Stay in it. Keep it alive.
What I am looking for in your response
Your sides contain two questions. Each one includes the substance of what the character knows and believes, the beats of the answer, the facts and history they carry. That content is yours to use.
What I am not asking you to do is recite it.
Take the material. Understand it. Then forget the document and answer as the character. I want to hear the weight of who this person is, not in what they say, but in how they say it. The pause before they answer. The way they choose a word. Whether they trust you with the truth or make you earn it.
The format
Self-tape to camera. Speak directly as if Captain Mayfair is seated across from you. No costume required, no production value needed. One of the provided questions, fully answered, in character from start to finish. Take as much, or as little, time as you need to fully answer the question.
Mythos Season #2 Character Sides
Please keep the content of these sides confidential, thank you – Victor
Send submission via Backstage or email to Victor@MythosAnthology.com
Honestly backstage is better, it helps keep things organized.
I look forward to reviewing your submission. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
We work hard to conduct and present ourselves like a large, professional organization, but at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of passionate artists building something we are proud of.
